Disappointment for boxers despite wins

Highland Boxing Academy’s Ross-shire fighters both came away from their trip to Dublin for the Monkstown International Box Cup having won silver medals.

But head coach Liam Foy is adamant that one of them should have been a gold.

Alness’ Ewan Gliniecki eased past his English opponent on the first day and into the final where, according to Foy, he dominated the last two rounds – but the split decision went against him.

Foy was incredulous at the announcement, and he says even the referee couldn’t believe the result.
