The 18-year-old full back left Ross County to move to the English Championship club this week for an undisclosed fee.

The Dingwall teenager only made his senior debut for the Staggies at the start of the season.

Six months later, he has joined the Sky Blues in the second tier of English football in what has been a meteoric rise.

Reid admits he finds its hard to believe he has sealed a move down south at such a young age.

Speaking on the Coventry City website, he said: “A year ago I was playing under 18's football and now I’m at a Championship side I just can’t believe it, I’m just delighted to be here and I do have to pinch myself at times.”

"It feels brilliant, I’m delighted to be here, and I can’t wait to get started and training with the squad, I’m buzzing.

“It’s a massive club and they’re playing in the Championship and they have good ambitions of staying in the league and kicking on climbing the table.

“They have a massive fan base, and they have history of bringing through youth players which is massive for me because they develop them into better players and better people.

“You look at that history and it really is a big selling point and it’s not just them, you look at Michael Rose who also came down from Scotland last season and he’s done really well here so it was a massive attraction.”

This time last year, Reid was coming up to his 18th birthday and was yet to make his professional debut in the game.

Fast forward 12 months and the defender has secured a move to the Sky Blues after racking up 24 appearances for Ross County in all competitions.

“It was a shock, at the start of pre-season the Gaffer at Ross County told me I’d play about 10 to 15 games and I would be a second choice left-back.

“I then got a start against Motherwell and I haven’t really looked back since that moment really.

“It was brilliant to be honest, because I had a good game and I felt as if I kicked on from there and I kept being consistent and that’s what I tried to do.

After completing his move, Reid spoke with Coventry boss Mark Robins who told him to carry on his form from Ross County.

“He’s told me not to put any pressure on myself and to just go out and enjoy my football like I have been doing at Ross County and I’ll get my opportunity.

“He doesn’t expect me to come in and play 40 plus games a season right away, but I will be in and around the squad and he just told me to enjoy it and do my best.”
