A REARRANGED annual fixture in the Tain Tennis Club calendar provided plenty of excitement and drama when it was contested at the weekend.

The Firth Cup tournament is normally held in May, but due to new courts being laid this year was postponed until last weekend.

A total of 24 club members from Dingwall, Fortrose and Tain Tennis Clubs took part as light rain in spells did not stop play.

By just a tiny margin from Tain, the trophy was won by a very delighted team from Dingwall Tennis Club.

Tribute was paid to Tain stalwart John Waring for his organisational work. During the winter months, coaching continues at the Tain club. For further information contact John Waring 01862 851410 or Joanie Whiteford 01862 851243.
