The Dingwall fighter will look to win his fifth professional bout when he is in the main event at Highland Skirmish at the Inverness Leisure Centre on Saturday, May 28.

The 22-year-old welder’s opponent has not been confirmed at the time of going to press.

But whoever he is up against, Bartlett is looking to make a real impression in the ring next weekend.

“I know I am putting in more work than anyone else, so whoever it is, I will do the business,” said Bartlett.

“I am looking to fight for titles before the end of the year and move myself up the rankings.

“I am not looking to be hanging about.

“There are a lot of big names coming out of the Highlands right now, such as Tom Stoltman and Luke Stoltman.

“I’m looking to be the next big name coming out of the Highlands.”

Originally from Strathpeffer before moving to Dingwall, Ben is the son of Sandy Bartlett, who was the first professional boxer to come out of the Highlands.

Next weekend will see Bartlett move up a division to welterweight, and he is still expecting to record an emphatic win.

“I am moving up a class to welterweight and will look to stay at that division for the rest of my career.

“I spar with boys who weigh heavier than me anyway.

“I am used to fighting boys who have more weight than me, I know I have a lot of filling out to do, but I will become a strong welterweight for years to come.”

Being involved in the main event next weekend, Bartlett is reassured he will have a strong support in his corner in Inverness.

He said: “I have always taken a big support with me who make it a great night out so I am looking forward to putting on a show for them.”
