Ben Bartlett won the Scottish Welterweight Championship after a decision victory over Alfie Poole.

The Highland Boxing Academy athlete went up against Alfie Poole in Glasgow last night to crown a new champion, with the title previously sitting vacant.

Poole went into the contest with a previous record of four wins and one defeat – which had been in his previous bout, also a shot at the Scottish title.

That gave Bartlett the experience advantage, going in with seven wins to his name without a single loss, and he used every second of that to come out on top.

The Dingwall native was pushed into uncharted territory, going all the way to 10 rounds for the first time in his career, but an all-action performance saw him crowned winner on the judges' scorecards, 97-93.
