DINGWALL Academy pupil Caitlyn Heggie claimed the biggest win of her athletics career when she won the junior race at the Armagh International Road Races.

The Ross County Athletics Club teenager was first in the junior 3k race in Northern Ireland when she crossed the line in a time of nine minutes and 46 seconds.

Heggie is continuing her impressive form from last year, when she was crowned Scottish Schools 3000 metres champion.

Also in 2022, Heggie won silver at the Scottish Under-17 3000 Metres Championship and bronze at the Scottish Cross Country Championship.

Kirkhill athlete Mhairi Maclennan from Inverness Harriers was in sixth place in the Senior Women’s 3k race.
