Going into the split, Ross County were four points behind Dundee United and Kilmarnock after an embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Hearts.

However, impressive wins at home to Livingston and away at Dundee United, and despite defeat at Motherwell on Saturday, Ross County are in 11th place.

They are two points clear of Dundee United at the bottom and only one point behind Kilmarnock in 10th.

Their fate remains in their own hands, knowing wins in their final two games against St Johnstone tomorrow and Kilmarnock on Sunday, guarantees their status in the Premiership next season.

Randall admitted the defeat at Motherwell was hard to take.

However, he is confident they can do enough to finish above both Dundee United and Kilmarnock.

“We are fully confident in ourselves and we know that these are two massive games for us,” he said.

“If we can win those two games then we know that we are safe. It is disappointing day to lose to Motherwell, but we will get back to work.

“Going into the split we were four points behind at the bottom, but it is in our hands.

Before the split we would have taken that position.

“We have fought our way back into it. We have a lot to fight for and keep us in the league where we belong.”

Motherwell won the game in the 101st minute after being awarded a penalty after a VAR check spotted a handball in the penalty box from Keith Watson.

Kevin Van Veen fired past Ross Laidlaw to give Motherwell all three points at Fir Park.
