Will Nightingale admits Ross County need to improve all over the park – but he still feels they would have been good value for a result against Dundee.

The defender returned from suspension to play 90 minutes in Dingwall on Saturday, with the only goal coming from Joe Shaughnessy with the final touch of the match.

It was a heartbreaking way to lose, but while Nightingale saw positives in the game he knows the Staggies need to improve.

“It’s a tough one to take, we’re just really disappointed,” he said.

“Games like that have to be a 0-0 minimum from our perspective. Dundee will say they applied a lot of pressure, and that’s what we have to look at.

“We defended well, but why are we defending so much? That’s just my opinion, and there are lots of those in football.

“We probably had better chances, although they probably had more dominance in the second half.

“I think we just need to try and find that bit of magic from somewhere. When you get something in the game, it gives you something to defend.

“To be fair, we can be better all over. Everyone can look at themselves, but you can’t fault our character or heart I think personally.

“There are things we can improve on, and one game isn’t going to define our season, so we’ll regroup and go again.”
