GEORGE Harmon says results in recent weeks have proven Ross County are good enough to avoid relegation this season, despite falling to an unlucky 2-1 defeat against Rangers at Ibrox.

Borna Barisic’s deflected free kick late in the game proved to be the difference in Glasgow on Saturday.

The result was harsh on County after they fought back to level the game through Jordan White after Malik Tillman gave Rangers the lead.

However, Ross County remain out of the relegation zone on 21 points, one point ahead of Motherwell and Dundee United, albeit both teams have a game in hand.

It was Ross County’s first league defeat in four matches, having picked up five points from their previous three matches.

They included draws against Hibernian and Motherwell along with a 3-0 victory over Kilmarnock.

Harmon says Staggies fans should take a lot of confidence from the performance against Rangers that they can avoid the drop this season.

“We are looking to head as high up the table as we can,” he said.

“It’s a tight table, if you get three points, you can move up a few places.

“We are not where we want to be be, but we soon can be if we get the performances right and the points come with it.”

Harmon admitted defeat at Ibrox was tough to take and felt they merited something from the match.

“Losing to Rangers was a tough one to take as tactically we played well,” says Harmon.

“We created as many chances as they did, but we conceded poor goals. Against the Old Firm you need some luck and it didn’t go our way.

“You could say it was an unfair result, there aren’t many teams that come to Ibrox and feel hard done by with a point.

“But that is the feeling in the changing room, we know we can go toe to toe with them and we need to take that performance into St Mirren in the next game.”
