ALEX Iacovitti says Ross County can rectify the defensive mistakes they made at Kilmarnock to ensure they can get the points to stay in the Premiership.

The defender rescued a draw for the Staggies in the 2–2 draw at Rugby Park to stay in 10th place and out of the relegation zone with his header in the second half.

County went behind after three minutes when Chris Burke found the net but Michael Gardyne equalised two minutes later.

However they fell behind again in the 16th minute when Mitch Pinnock regained the lead for Kilmarnock.

But Ross County came out strongly in the second half and Iacovitti levelled the game with his header in the 54th minute.

Iacovitti says it was vital Ross County improved in the second half and says they showed the fight required to stay up.

However, he knows they can’t afford to dig themselves out of trouble again for the remainder of the campaign like they did at Kilmarnock.

“We had to improve, we had to keep a clean sheet in the second half.

“We conceded two sloppy goals in the first half and we had to keep a clean sheet in the second half. The lads did well and we’ll take it.

“We don’t want to get too carried away, we want to stay humble and focus on the next game like we did and rectify some of the sloppy goals and move on.

“We played good stuff in the first half but the goals were sloppy, we played decent stuff.”

Iacovitti says he was also delighted to score his first league goal for Ross County since joining.

“I’m delighted to get off the mark,” he said.

“I’ve been looking to do that in the first games of the season, but luckily it has come in the big games so now we have to keep going and keep striving for more.

“We played good stuff in the first half but the goals were conceded were sloppy.

“However, I think we played decent stuff during the match.”
