Connor Randall says Ross County’s players have no lack of belief that they can turn their Premiership form around.

Although knocking Celtic out of the Betfred Cup reinvigorated the confidence levels in Dingwall, the Staggies have gone eight games without a win in the league, dropping down to 11th in the process.

With more tough games away at Aberdeen, Hibernian and Celtic before the end of the month, the situation might look even worse by the time 2021 rolls around.

So while Randall is not bowing to any pressure, he is well aware of the need to pick up more points.

“We’ve got to start getting results,” he admitted.

“We want to start pushing up the other way up the table, nobody wants to be at the bottom end.

“I wouldn’t say it’s pressure. We know what we are working for, we just need to keep doing what we are doing.

“We believe in what we are doing so we need to keep working at that. Hopefully a few things go our way in both boxes and we maybe take some chances.

“We’ve got to start getting points on the board. We will stay focused on what we have been doing, and what we believe we can do.”

If County are to move up the Premiership table, they will need to start scoring more goals on a regular basis.

As things stand, they are the second lowest scorers in the division, just two ahead of St Mirren at the foot of the table, and while it is not Randall’s main job to find the net, he knows they must improve.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a concern, but we know we’ve got to start putting away the chances we are creating,” Randall said.

“We have missed a few good chances this season.

“We know that, we can see it and we are all aware of it. We’ve just got to keep plugging away, it will turn and we will start taking our chances.

“We have just got to keep creating them. If we are not creating them it’s more of a concern, but we have got to take them.

“There are big moments in games in both boxes. If we start taking those chances, hopefully that can turn the tide for us a little bit.”

Recent weeks has seen County shift to a back five in an effort to shore up the defence, with Randall switching from right back to right-wing back.

That change does not bother him in the slightest, with the differences negligible.

“Everyone has played in different formations before, and we work on them in training,” he added.

“It all depends on the game, what the manager is thinking and what formation we are going to play. Everyone is comfortable in any formation and any position we are in for the team.

“I can get forward more when we play a back three or wing backs, although I can as well with a back four.

“It just depends on the game. I don’t think it makes much difference what formation we play as we always know what the plan is.”
