The Staggies are only two points off sixth place after Wednesday night’s 1–0 win at Motherwell, moving them into eighth place.

With four games remaining before the split, the Staggies will look to continue their fight to get into the top half of the table when they take on St Mirren in Dingwall on Saturday.

Iacovitti says his team has the confidence to end any relegation fears early by looking to break into the top six.

“We never doubt ourselves, we take one game as it comes and not look too far ahead,” said Iacovitti on Wednesday night.

“We focus on our next challenge which is against St Mirren on Saturday and look to stay grounded.

“It is tight as there are a load of teams who want the same outcome, but I am sure we will do fine.”

Ross County’s current predicament is all the more remarkable considering they failed to win their first 10 league games.

Iacovitti says he was always confident, even at the start of the season, that they could prove they belonged in the Premiership.

“I was certain, the boys we have in there are a tough bunch and we had to dig in at times but we came through it.

“It is massive, when a load of new players come in, it takes time to get to know each other and how you play, it is coming together now nicely.

“It takes time for players to gel.

“We just take one game as it comes and stay humble as there is the next game.

“We are not getting carried away, we weren’t in a good place but we had the experience to get out of it.

“We are getting out of it but we can’t get too carried away.”

Ross County have moved 10 points clear of St Johnstone in the relegation play-off zone and 11 points ahead of bottom of the table Dundee.
