GARY Glen believes the Tynecastle factor can work in Ross County’s favour tomorrow (Saturday) as his new club venture to the venue where he spent his formative football years.

The Staggies’ striker blazed a distinguished trail up through the Gorgie club’s youth academy system before signing professional terms in 2006.

Six years and more than 50 SPL appearances later, Glen realised he had to leave Tynecastle to fulfil his first team ambitions.

Saturday’s visit to his old haunt will, then, be a strange experience in many ways at the famous, and sometimes intimidating, old ground.

But Glen, pushing hard for first team selection, believes the typically boisterous buzz of the Tynecastle slopes can help bring the best out of County.

The striker said: “You do get a good atmosphere down there at Hearts and, while that is to their advantage, there are a lot of boys who enjoy it.

“It is not just the Hearts lads but players at other clubs who seem to like playing there, including quite a few boys here at County.

“So all the boys will be looking forward ?to the occasion, especially after the win there at the weekend. Hopefully we can do it again.”

Glen remains close to Hearts players he performed alongside, including Jamie MacDonald, Danny Grainger and Ryan McGowan.

He said: “I have a lot of good pals down there but when it comes to the game, that changes. You forget all about it.

“You become the best of enemies and then, after the game, you shake hands and it is all forgotten.”
