Derek Adams has confirmed that Ross County fully intend on keeping hold of Yan Dhanda this month – and it will take a big offer to prize him away from Dingwall.

The former Liverpool academy player's future has been the subject of much speculation this month, with Hearts being credited with an interest in the midfielder.

Dhanda's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, leading to the question being asked of whether County could cash in this month.

However, the club naturally do not want to lose one of their star players, and Adams says he expects to keep hold of Dhanda beyond the end of January.

“It depends on a multitude of things," Adams said.

"In this window, we have had no offers for him at this moment in time.

“We want to keep him, and we will keep him in this transfer window unless someone pays money that we think is acceptable.

“From our point of view, he’s a player that I like watching in training and playing, and we want to keep him."

While Dhanda may not be on the move this month, it has already been a busy spell for County in the transfer market.

The likes of Kyle Turner and Ben Purrington have left the club, while Adams has made three signings so far – Brandon Khela, George Wickens and Eli King – with more set to follow.

County have not just strengthened on the pitch either. Greg Strong came in at the start of the month as the Staggies' head of recruitment, and Stuart Millar has returned to Dingwall as chief scout for Scotland.

Those two had both worked with Adams before, and the manager is very happy with how his scouting team is shaping up.

“I think it’s important to have a base in England, Greg will provide that, and we've got Stuart who has come in and will give us a base in Scotland," Adams explained.

“As we further go on we will have a base somewhere else as well. You need to have people on the ground going to watch games.

“That’s where Greg and Stuart come in really well. It’s important we have that kind of structure at a Premiership club.

“I tell them what position I want, and what type of profile of player I want, and usually when they tell me someone is a certain profile they quite quickly get told he’s not for me!

“That is the way it is – and it has worked well for us in the past. I listen to them, and if they do say there is somebody special I will go and watch them and make sure we get them.

“It’s really important I get them, and they get me. Them getting me is not always the easiest thing.

“I took Greg to Plymouth and Morecambe, and I took Stuart to Bradford City with me. Having two guys that know what type of player is needed to play in my type of team is really important."
