AN impressive unbeaten run in the top flight for SPL debutants Ross County has landed gaffer Derek Adams with a confidence-boosting manager of the month award.

Despite a shock defeat at home to Raith Rovers with a radically reshuffled starting eleven this week, the Dingwall outfit is riding high on a 38-match unbeaten run in league football.

Ahead of this weekend's home test against Kilmarnock, Adams took receipt of the Clydesdale Bank manager of the month award.

The 37-year-old, after three draws and a victory in August, laid the credit at the feet of his players.

Adams said: “I am delighted. The players have been great in a such a difficult opening set of fixtures.

“For such a small club to adapt so well to the SPL is testimony to the players’ ability and togetherness.

“That is what has enabled us to get the reward.

“It is nice to get the recognition. Other teams have done well but we have managed to keep this unbeaten record when people know coming from the First Division into the SPL is not easy.

“We have done well — but it is only a case of so far, so good.

“We are still unbeaten in the league and we will try to keep going this weekend against a very good, attacking Killie side.”

Alasdair Fraser brings all the latest from the County camp in this week's Ross-shire Journal.
