Clyne reaches international landmark for Scotland in victory against New Zealand

Alan Clyne marked his 150th international cap in style as he helped Scotland record a shock win over New Zealand to win their group at the World Squash Team Championship.

The Munlochy athlete, who is ranked number 39 in the world, defeated world number 25 Campbell Grayson 3–2.

The former Fortrose Academy pupil won 11–8, 11–4, 7–11, 10–12, 11–4 in an 84-minute epic in Washington DC.

Clyne’s victory levelled the match at 1–1 after North Kessock athlete Greg Lobban suffered a 3–0 defeat against Paul Coll 11-5, 11-4, 11-6 in the opening encounter.

Perth’s Rory Stewart completed a 2–1 win for ninth seeded Scotland over the fourth seeded New Zealanders defeating Evan Williams in four games.

Clyne was pleased to cause an upset on his 150th cap for Scotland and to help his country win the group.
