Regan Charles-Cook says confidence is sky-high in the Ross County dressing room after securing their first Premiership win of the season at Dundee.

Getting that monkey off their backs would be enough to send levels of belief rocketing up, but to do it with the Staggies’ biggest ever top-flight victory was the icing on the cake.

For weeks County players and Malky Mackay have been holding steady, believing that impressive spells in matches showed everything was close to clicking into place even if the league table made for sorry reading in Dingwall.

Now they have been vindicated with a 5–0 win that felt like it was a long-time coming.

With an out-of-sorts Hibernian side travelling north tomorrow, hopes will be high that County can back it up with another win, but though clearly delighted with the display in attack and defence at Dens Park Charles-Cook is taking nothing for granted.

“It definitely has been a long time coming, especially after the last four games where we’ve been really frustrated that we haven’t finished off teams with the way we’ve started and the way we played,” he said.

“We were very ruthless – not just in the offensive box, but in the defensive box. Ash (Maynard-Brewer) made a great save at 0–0, and from there it was carnage.

“Of course we want to take this in to the next game. It gives us even more confidence in the dressing room, finally getting three points.

“It gives us momentum, but Hibs are a dangerous side so we can’t get carried away, we’ll rest up, recover and get ready for Saturday.

“That’s the key thing the gaffer talks about on the pitch, momentum, we have to keep that and that’s what we did at Dundee.

“They haven’t been at their best, but Hibs are a big team. We can never doubt them, they’ve got very big players, so I wouldn’t say it’s a good time to play them – we just have to focus on our game and not anyone else’s, and we’ll be all right.”
