Ross County made it three wins out of three in the Viaplay Cup group stage as they saw off Edinburgh City at the Meadowbank Stadium.

Connor Randall put the Staggies in front in the first half, before Simon Murray doubled their advantage shortly after the break.

Ryan Shanley reduced the deficit to one to give City hope, but Jordan White found the net on the hour mark to restore their two-goal advantage.

Now Ross County can win the group with just one point against Kelty Hearts in Dingwall on Saturday and earn a place in the second round.

County broke the deadlock after Jay Henderson's corner kick eventually fell to Randall who tapped home in the six-yard box.

Henderson looked threatening for Ross County in the first half, with the highlight being a thunderous 30-yard drive which went inches wide of the post.

But the Staggies did double their advantage in the 47th minute when Murray scored from close range for his fifth goal in three matches.

Ross County were guilty of allowing Shanley to charge into the box and fire a powerful shot past a helpless Ross Munro to make it 2-1.

But White found the net from close range on the hour mark to make it 3-1.
