Caberfeidh manager Jodi Gorski says his team’s defence must improve next season after conceding too many goals during the 2019 campaign.

The Strathpeffer outfit are safe from relegation and likely to finish in seventh place in the Premiership.

Staying in the top flight has been down to Cabers scoring 42 goals, with title challengers Newtonmore the only team that has scored more with 43.

However, they still have a goal difference of minus 10 after conceding 52 goals with several heavy defeats throughout the season.

They included an 8-2 defeat at Castle Leod to league leaders Lovat, with the two teams scheduled to face each other at Balgate tomorrow.

Gorski says it is something that they will be looking to improve on in 2020.

“Sorting our defence will be my priority as it has not been good enough this year,” he said.

“I’m not just speaking about the players who are positioned in defence.

“I am talking about the team playing defensively as a whole has not been good enough.

“We have not been good enough on putting pressure on the defence when they have the ball and that is why we have been conceding a lot of goals.

“Somebody will be coming into the club next year to work on the defence which I hope will be a big help.

“But we are safe from relegation and now it is about preparing for next season.”

Caberfeidh lost 4–1 to league favourites Kingussie last weekend.

Kingussie took a 2–0 lead into the second half with James Falconer and Roddy Young being on target. Craig Morrison pulled a goal back for Cabers in the 51st minute to extend his scoring run to an incredible 19 games.

However a further two goals from Young to complete his hat trick safely secured the points for the home team.

Caberfeidh fielded two 15-year-old players, Kyle Grant and Finlay Coleman, last weekend and Gorski says he will look to give the youngsters further opportunities in their final three games.
