The 20-year-old midfielder made his debut for the Staggies at Hibernian on Sunday after arriving at Dingwall on a season long loan from English Championship club Coventry City.

With only a handful of appearances for the Sky Blues in England, Burroughs was looking for the opportunity of first team football and is pleased to come north of the border to get that chance.

“It is something that I needed to do at no matter what level,” he said.

“But playing at this level of this opposition with the likes of Rangers and Celtic, as well as Hibs it is a league that will give a lot of challenges and help me develop as a footballer and person.”

Burroughs has been at Coventry City since he was eight-years-old but is qualified to represent Scotland and has played for the under-19 and under-21 international team.

He worked under Ross County manager Malky Mackay during his time as Scottish FA performance director and says he was a big influence in him coming to the Global Energy Stadium.

He also hopes he can receive more international call-ups while at Dingwall.

“I was in the Scotland youth set-up and I have been around the gaffer when he was overseeing all the youth sides,” he said.

“That was a big thing for me to come up here and it is a great club in a great league so I can’t complain.

“I enjoyed the time working with him and look forward to working with him again this season.

“Ever since I’ve been in the Scotland set-up it is an aim to come up here on loan, as soon as the opportunity came I took it.

“A couple of weeks after finishing at Coventry I played a couple of games for Scotland against Northern Ireland at Dumbarton.

“There are a couple of the lads I was away with that play in this league which highlights where you are playing and you are more visible than playing in England.

“Hopefully I can get more call ups in the near future.”
