Boxers set for biggest amateur tournament

Two Ross-shire boxers are jetting off to Ireland next week to take part in the biggest amateur boxing tournament in the world.

Over 900 boxers compete in the Monkstown International Box Cup, and this year that field will include Ewan Gliniecki from Alness and Lewis Urquhart from Dingwall, representing Highland Boxing Academy.

It is the first international competition that Urquhart will be competing in, having missed out on the squad that travelled to Hull for a similar competition last year.

Head coach Liam Foy says that he thinks Urquhart is more ready for the challenge now than he was last year, and is confident he has what it takes to compete at the top.
