INVERGORDON manager Gary Campbell is looking for a reaction from his team against Inverness Athletic after a heavy loss to St Duthus in the North Caledonian League.

A 4–1 defeat in the Ross derby at Tain saw Invergordon lose top spot and drop to second three points behind new leaders Thurso.

With a superior goal difference, Invergordon will regain top spot with victory against Athletic and if Thurso lose to Orkney.

But Campbell says big improvement is required if they are to get a win at the Recreation Grounds on Saturday.

“Hopefully we will do a lot better than last week,” he said.

“We want to get back playing football and improve.

“We lost bad goals but overall we were not good enough.

“We need a reaction as last week we didn’t perform.”

Scott Houston is suspended for tomorrow’s game.

But Darran Goller and Kyle Maclean will come back into the squad.

Since Inverness Athletic came into the NCL three years ago they have never beaten Invergordon.

Campbell was unaware of the undefeated record and hope that it continues to keep up the chase for top spot.

“We always have close games against Inverness Athletic especially in recent years.”

But despite being three points behind Thurso and level on points with St Duthus, Campbell believes the main challengers for the title come from the teams below them in the league.

“It might be early to say but Orkney are looking strong at the moment and I don’t think Golspie will be far away come the end of the season.

“I like to think we will be up there at the end of the season too.”

Third place St Duthus could also go top of the NCL if results go their way when they head to bottom of the table Bonar Bridge.

Manager Stuart Ross says he will be taking a full strength squad to the Sutherland outfit who have conceded 31 goals in four games.

Elsewhere, leaders Thurso take on undefeated Orkney at The Dammies while Bunillidh Thistle take on Golspie Sutherland in the Sutherland derby in Helmsdale.
