Ross County boss Malky Mackay is being touted by bookmakers among the main contenders for the vacant manager post at Dundee United.

However, he is considered a long shot behind current United assistant manager Liam Fox and Duncan Ferguson to take the reins at Tannadice.

The position is up for grabs after Jack Ross was sacked following a 9–0 thrashing to Celtic and a poor start to the campaign.

Mackay is being quoted as 16/1 to become the next manager at Dundee United with Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Billy Dodds being quoted at 14/1.

But the pair are a long way behind favourite Duncan Ferguson at 8/15 with Liam Fox at 2/1 to get the job.
