The Ross-shire heavyweights proved too good for the Highland League’s colts team as they ran riot at Culbokie.

They will now face Wick Groats in the final on Saturday, August 19 after the Caithness club defeated Orkney outfit Stromness Athletic 1-0 in their semi final.

Avoch reinforced their tag as favourites as they took an early advantage against Clachnacuddin as they found themselves 4-0 up at half time.

Keith Mason scored a hat-trick in the match and sent Avoch on their way to victory by grabbing the opener after 17 minutes.

Kyle Maclean doubled Avoch’s advantage five minutes later.

Mason grabbed his second in the 34 minute when he was the first to react to a corner kick before James Ross made it four on the stroke of half time.

Mason completed his hat-trick on the hour mark to make it 5-0 with Ryan McFee and Mark Gair completing the rout to seal Avoch’s place in the final.

It was a closer affair between Wick Groats and Stromness Athletic at Back Park in Castletown.

Former Wick Academy striker Jonah Martens scored the only goal of the game to seal their place in the final.

Avoch and Wick Groats will play the final at Harmsworth Park in Wick on Saturday, August 19.

Avoch are the second most successful team in the competition having won the trophy six times and will appear in the final for the 14th time in their history.
