Avoch grab late equaliser against Maryburgh to stay clear at the top

AVOCH and Maryburgh shared the points in a 1–1 draw in the Inverness and District Premiership

Jordan Laidlaw gave Maryburgh the lead with 15 minutes remaining.

But Avoch equalised two minutes later when Ken Morrison headed home a Paul Gair corner kick.

The draw means Avoch are just one point ahead of Black Rock Rovers.

The Evanton outfit beat Tomatin 4–0 on Wednesday night to move within touching distance of Avoch at the top.

In the other match on Wednesday night, champions Loch Ness thrashed Culloden Blacksmiths 7–2.

NMM Sams’s remain three points clear at the top of Inverness and District Division One after thrashing Invergordon Social Club 6–2.

Black Isle United remain hot on their heels three points behind after they defeated Hill Rovers 4–2.

The Culbokie visitors were down to 10 men after 15 minutes, but were still too good for their hosts.

Alexander Mackay, Ruari Rogan and Adam Sendall scored the goals which secured Black Isle victory.

Conon Bridge went ballistic with an 8-0 thrashing of Balloan.

In Division Two, Highland Hospice stay top of the table as they defeated Gellions 3–2.

Jonny Hewitt scored twice with Mikey Grant also finding the net for Hospice which put them into a 3–0 lead.

Gellions came storming back and reduced the deficit to one thanks to goals from David Robertson and Aaron Fraser, but the league leaders held on.

Clachnacuddin Under-20’s remain one point behind after they thrashed Highland Athletic 7–0.

Clach were 5–0 up before half time with goals from Cammy Neville, Darren Mota, Thomas Lewis and two goals from Declan Bray. Sean Reid-Nicol scored twice in the second half to complete the rout.

Fortrose and Rosemarkie Union kept their slim hopes of promotion alive with a 4-2 win over G16 United.

Lee Williams scored twice with Simon Etheridge and an own goal helping them to victory.

In the Division Two Cup final tomorrow, Highland Hospice face Clach Under-20’s.
