The 23-year-old from Avoch left Glasgow City towards the end of last year after spending 18 months with the reigning SWPL champions.

Rangers turned professional ahead of the current season, and along with Celtic, are making a concerted effort to reel in City, who have won the title 13 times in-a-row.

That project was an attractive one for McLauchlan, who thinks the facilities on offer at the Gers can help her develop as a player.

Speaking on the Rangers club website, she said: “I am really excited about being here, the club and the set-up all looked great even before coming.”

“Now I have started to see things in the last couple of weeks it is really great, and I am really excited for the rest of the season and what is to come.

“I was looking for what I thought was the next step. I am obviously only 23, so I am still quite young in football so I wanted to improve.

“When I spoke to Rangers I just felt that was the next step to be able to do that with what they had here, the club, the facilities, the coaching staff and the players.

“It is not only a step up within my football it is everything around me that can help me going forward.”

McLauchlan started her career as a right-winger, but converted to a full back while at Glasgow City.

She also featured at right back in her two games for Rangers before the winter break.

She says that she is happy to continue being there for her new club.

“I quite like the defending side of it and that dirty bit, so I prefer it there,” she added.

“At the same time if I am at full-back I like attacking and going forward when I get the chance to.

“You see in all different games that full-backs are now quite attacking, so that is quite a strength to have.”
