Avoch beat champions Maryburgh to move top of the league

AVOCH moved clear at the top of the Inverness and District Premiership after beating defending champions Maryburgh 2-1 last night.

Jordan Knight gave Maryburgh the lead, but Avoch levelled when Finn As-Chainey headed home a cross from James Ross to level the scores midway through the first half.

Cameron Sutherland grabbed the winner for Avoch in the 88th minute when he headed home a Ross free-kick.

The win means Avoch are two points clear at the top of the table.

Elsewhere, Conon Bridge shared the points with Inverness Athletic in a 2-2 draw.

Conon Bridge came from behind twice with goals from Scott Macdonald to earn a point.

Elsewhere, Culloden and Balloan/Loch Ness played out a 4-4 draw with Ardersier beating Tomatin 2-0.
