The club took a break from playing in the NCL this season after struggling to find somewhere to play. They lost their former pitch due to the construction of a new school.

But the club are planning to return to action next season with the aim of providing opportunities for footballers in Alness to play senior football.

Robert MacCormack, who manages Evanton amateur football club Black Rock Rovers, has been appointed as manager of Alness United for the 2020/21 campaign.

He says the club wants to give footballers in Alness the chance to play at senior level in their home town.

“The town is too big and has too many players living here not to have a senior football team,” said MacCormack.

“The youth set up at Alness United is second to none where a lot of work has been put in.

“But to bring players through at youth level and have no senior team for them to go to is not on.

“We would like to get as many players from Alness playing football.

“And especially for guys playing under-17 football with Alness United, their goal should be to play for the senior team in the North Caledonian League.”
