ALNESS United are looking to christen their new home at Dalmore Park by beating Halkirk United in their final game of the North Caledonian League season.

The club are set to play their first competitive game at the artificial surface which is located beside Alness Academy.

United have had a disappointing campaign in the NCL, as they are currently second bottom in the league, with only three wins all season.

Victory by at least two goals would move them above Inverness Athletic on goal difference into ninth place.

Manager Robert MacCormack is looking forward to playing a competitive match on the new surface tomorrow for the first time and earn a victory.

“Playing on the new pitch for the first time on Saturday, we are looking to get a good start off on there,” he said.

“There has been a couple of youth friendlies on the pitch, but this will be the first time we have played a competitive game on it.

“We now have fantastic facilities available for us to use and it is a tremendous set up.”
After impressing last season by winning the Ness Cup during 2020/21, MacCormack admits the club has failed to live up to expectations.

But they are determined to end the season on a high on Saturday as they are looking forward to next season and being a stronger force.

“It hasn’t been a great season for us at all, but it is the way that it has gone.

“For one reason or another, things haven’t worked out for us this season.

“But we want to get one place further up the table than we are now.

“I have been Alness manager for two seasons and I have learned that sometimes you go with it and it goes well.

“But it only takes a couple of bad results to get you stuck in a rut and it is hard to get out of.

“However, we have a squad which could compete with any club in the league, just the little things let us down this season.”
