Nairn stretched their lead at the top to four points from second-placed Inverness Athletic after a 4–1 win at Bonar Bridge on Saturday.

Alness are eight points behind in fourth place, but crucially have three games in hand on the top three teams in the division.

Alness are still seen as the favourites to win Division Two, but did slip up in their last league match when they drew 1–1 at home to Loch Ness.

Manager Robert MacCormack knows their title fate is still in their own hands but is aware how good Nairn County have been so far this season.

“Nairn have done really well and their young boys have been flying this season,” he said.

“It will be another tough test.

“We can’t afford to drop any more points and we have to put a stop to the winning run Nairn have put together.

“We are both good sides which should result in an end to end game of football.”

After a blistering start to the season, where Alness scored 22 goals in two games, they have failed to win their last two matches.

They included a 1-1 draw in their Division Two clash against Loch Ness.

They were also knocked out of the North Caledonian Cup on penalties at Thurso last weekend.

After the teams were locked at 1–1, Alness failed to score any of their penalties in the shoot-out which Thurso won 3-0.

MacCormack says failure to win their last two matches is added incentive to pick up victory on Saturday.

“We are looking to put things right which will give us a extra bit of motivation.

“Obviously every game is a must win game for us, no matter who we are playing if we want to win this division.

“We have only played one match this season at Alness so far and we are looking forward to getting back home.

“It is a good pitch which should allow a good match to be played.”

MacCormack says he has no injury concerns for tomorrow.
