The Alness fighter came out on top in his category when he competed in the competition at Limassol.

Williamson, who competes for Inverness City Boxing Club, defeated Irish boxer Riley Brody when he proved too powerful and recorded a stoppage after 20 seconds in the semi-final.

In the final he faced former English junior champion Andrew Lawson from Sunderland.

Williamson once again proved too strong and took the win with a unanimous decision from the judges.

His coach, Laurie Redfern, said Williamson was in outstanding form during the competition to take the gold medal home from the tournament in Cyprus.

He said: “Adian impressed everyone with his performances.

“It was the first time he has took part in a competition of this size and I thought he would be nervous going into the ring.

“But he was so relaxed and said he was fine.

“With 20 seconds of the semi final, he landed a right a hand and Brody was flat out on the floor.

“He threw the punch and it was curtains for his opponent.

“We always knew that Adian had power but to knock out a boy of Brody’s calibre was different class.”

Speaking about Williamson’s performance in the final against Lawson, Redfern said he was just as impressive despite having to go the distance.

“Lawson shone in the tournament but Adian shocked everyone by taking the boy apart.

“He managed to force Lawson into two eight counts in the first round and was unable to stop Adian coming forward.

“Williamson forced Lawson into another standing count in the second round but he said he deliberately slowed the fight down in the third round as he knew he was going to win.”

“I knew his strength, but even I didn’t expect him to be that good in Cyprus and he surprises every time he boxes.”
