Ross County manager Derek Adams has revealed Scott Allardice is set to miss the next three months through injury.

Allardice had looked to be proving himself as a key man in the middle of the park for the Staggies, impressing both towards the end of Malky Mackay's time as manager and since Derek Adams took over.

However, the former Dundee United man did not feature against Aberdeen or Partick Thistle either side of the winter break, with his absence keenly felt.

Now, Adams has confirmed he is set for a long-term spell on the sidelines – and he is not the only player County will be missing for the foreseeable future.

“We have got injury issues and suspensions," Adams explained.

“We have Scott Allardice out for three months with a knee injury. He’s away for an operation and that changes personnel, because he had played every minute for me.

“We’ve got the captain out through suspension, and he’s injured as well. We’ve got Ryan Leak, who is going for an x-ray on his ankle after I think Brian Graham that fell on top of him.

“We’ve Scott out for three months and Dylan Smith out for 12 weeks. Ryan Leak, Jack Baldwin and Ross Callachan are out – when you add it all up, these are senior players out with long-term injuries.

“Will Nightingale is also away to Wimbledon to get an injection in his knee.

“Ben Purrington moved out, he wanted to move back to the south-west, so we have to change things there.

“It’s all about continuity, and we need to have continuity throughout the squad. When you are a manager trying to pick a team, it’s not easy at times because you don’t know who is going to be fit until a Friday."
