A FORMER Hearts striker is the latest new signing unveiled by SPL new boys Ross County.

Gary Glen has been snapped up by Staggies boss Derek Adams who believes the 22-year-old will fit right in at Victoria Park.

Adams declared himself particularly pleased with the addition to the squad as it’s understood Glen had been courted by a number of other SPL sides.

Glen has joined Ross County on a one-year deal.

Adams said: "Gary's a player who has always been highly rated by his coaches and has developed throughout his career.

“It is always tough for a young player to break in to the first team having come through the youth set-up at big clubs and I can understand his hunger to play competitive football.

“Having had the option to move to another SPL club I am delighted he has seen Ross County as the right team and environment for him to make that step up in.

“We have a great track record of nurturing and developing young players in the first team here at Victoria Park and I think Gary's signing fits in well with that ethos."

The latest news from Victoria Park comes just ahead of the eagerly anticipated fixture list for next season, due to be issued on Monday morning.

The runaway First Division championship winners will discover who they’ll face in the coming season – including details of Highland derbies with local rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
