BUDDING young business brains from across the Highlands and Islands are being offered a chance to get some free support and meet up with like-minded young entrepreneurs at Eden Court in June.

Aimed at under 30-year-olds who have a new business idea or recently established business, and particularly those with a community benefit, the Make It Happen event takes place at the Inverness venue on June 1 from 10.30am-3.30pm.

Organised by Impact Hub Inverness, with funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise as part of the Year of Young People (YOYP) 2018, it will include workshops on business planning, which will highlight issues such as VAT, tax and national insurance, and marketing.

There will also be the less formal Lego Serious Play session, aimed at building confidence to take the next step in businesses development – with a bit of help from Lego bricks.

Over lunch there will be an "eat and meet" session with people to chat to from the Scot Grad programme, RBS and the Big Lottery’s YOYP Fund among the participating organisations. Define Style consultant Amanda Latham will be offering mini style sessions to help young business folk look their best and after lunch there will be some laughter yoga with Natalie Thomson.

Brian Weaver from Impact Hub Inverness said: "We know there are lots of support networks out there for young people but we thought it would be a really good idea to bring them together for one day. And by bringing people with the same goal together, we know they can learn a lot from connecting with one another."

Bookings for the event can be made via Eventbrite or via the link on the Impact Hub Inverness website.

Businesses across the Highlands and Islands and Moray are being offered the chance to develop their workforces through the University of the Highlands and Islands’ (UHI) modern apprenticeship programme.

The university is providing opportunities to employ more than 300 new modern apprentices around the region. They include those working towards a career in hospitality, engineering, administration and retail.
