A TEENAGER who left war-torn Syria when he was 10 to relocate with his family in Easter Ross has been hailed "am amazing human being" after taking on a gruelling 200km challenge to tackle racism.

Shadi Ali (18), a pupil at Invergordon Academy, took on a 100km running challenge during the first lockdown and has doubled that this time around for the Show Racism The Red Card educational charity.

Shadi, who also volunteers at The Place youth group in Alness, was described by its leader Janette Douglas as "an amazing youth worker and role model to our local children".

She said: "Please support him. He is an amazing human being."

Shadi said of the week-long running effort: "It is tough mentally physically."

He raised £800 on his first effort.

With 35km still to complete before the close of play tomorrow to meet his target, the youngster has inspired many with his effort.

Paul John Connelly posted: "You're doing amazing Shadi, all for a great cause too."

Alness Runners offered encouragement too: "You are doing amazing!"

Toria Fraser said: "Impressive. You are a real leader and are teaching us all how to behave."
