Yellow weather warning issued for heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday

Heavy and persistent rain on Thursday and Friday is expected to lead to disruption in areas west of Inverness.

The yellow weather warning, issued by the Met Office earlier today, has warned of heavy rainfall from 3pm on Thursday until midnight on Friday.

A spokesperson said: "Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

"There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads, and that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

"There is also a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses."
