An exciting sight on Eden Court's lawn signalled the final stage of the countdown to Under Canvas returning next month.

The flagship summer festival opens again on July 5.

"This time next month we will be kicking off 39 days of live music and special events," the theatre informed its Facebook followers.

A link for tickets – which went on sale a fortnight ago – was added, offering the chance to book some summer music and special event highlights.

Nights of music with musicians will include Kim Carnie (Mànran), Karawane, Ryan Young and Calum MacPhail.

Trad music will be the focus from Wednesdays to Fridays, weekends will feature world music DJ sets and contemporary artists.

And a special event on July 22 will see the festival tent transform into the Summer Silent Disco following the return of Highland Pride at the Northern Meeting Park.

Last year 15,000 people attended 42 days of Under Canvas.
