Word on the Street Dingwall arts and book festival set to return in October with walks, talks, stand-up comedy and music

A FREE arts and book festival that showcases the creative talent in and around Ross-shire's county town is set to return for its seventh year.

Word on the Street, running from October 21-23, will feature a blend of face-to-face sessions in local venues and online Zoom and Facebook live-streamed events.

Sstorytelling for children and adults and a popular comedy night featuring the best in Highland talent will feature.

New to the line-up are the creator of River City, Stephen Greenhorn, and one of the stars of Scot Squad, Manjot Sumal.

Alan Bissett returns and a Poetry Jukebox with stand-up performer Rob Gee is on offer. Also featured is a talk with a BAFTA award-winning animator Will Anderson.

Further talks and Dingwall walks, online music with Brian Ó hEadhra and Fionnag NicChoinnich and local storyteller Bob Pegg also feature.

Word on the Street is supported by Highland Council through the Dingwall and Seaforth Ward Discretionary Grant Scheme. This year’s festival has also received support from Tesco Bags of Help, Tasgaidh and Creative Scotland, and The Scottish Book Trust Literature Live scheme.
