Woman dies in A9 crash involving car and bus near Slochd last night

A woman has died following a collision between a car and a bus on the A9 last night.

Police are appealing for information following the fatal crash near Slochd at around 7.45pm.

The accident involved a silver Audi A4 and a white Volvo B12 single-deck coach.

The woman was 73 years old and had been driving the Audi. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eight passengers from the coach were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where they were treated for minor injuries and later released.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours while collision investigation work was carried out and reopened at around 4am today.

Sergeant Neil MacDonald said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3350 of Friday, September 16, 2022.”
