An Invergordon boy (10) has baked 180 cakes by himself to raise money for MFR Cash for Kids' Mission Christmas to help children who 'aren't as lucky as him'.

Like many children during the festive season, Riley Stephen was thinking about what he wanted for Christmas this year, when he generously decided to instead help other less fortunate children.

Riley's mum Leonie said: "He's a very kind-hearted boy. He was thinking about what he wanted for Christmas and he started telling me that some children aren’t as lucky as him and he wanted to do something to help. He’s seen me doing baking boxes before for charity and decided to have a go himself.

Riley baked a total of 180 cakes, filling 30 boxes altogether – all by himself, with mum Leonie only being allowed to help with the clean-up.

The budding baker managed to raise a total of about £220 and has decided to donate to MFR Cash for Kids. He has just ordered over 50 small gifts bought with the money raised to donate to the children's charity. He iswaiting for the gifts to arrive before he donates them all to MFR Cash for Kids.

MFR Cash for Kids have launched Mission Christmas, as this year thousands of children are living in poverty, and are at risk of waking up without presents to open on Christmas Day.

Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity helping the children that need it most across the UK. The charity's mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs. Cash for Kids works with grass-roots organisations that aim to make a difference to young lives, directly supporting families who often have nowhere else to go.

Collectively, Cash for Kids raised £20.4 million from across the UK in 2022, supporting almost 490,000 children.
