THE rector of Ross-shire's largest secondary school has voiced her "incredible pride" at the achievements of pupils who have gone through challenges unprecedented in recent years.

Pupils across schools in Ross-shire are now getting back into the swing of a new term after the long summer break.

A significant number of senior pupils have also been reflecting on the first formal exams they have been able to sit since the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis and the chaos that created in classrooms.

At Dingwall Academy, pupils rose magnificently to the challenge, according to rector Karen Cormack.

She said: "This year was the first time, since 2019, that pupils were able to sit formal SQA exams, and Dingwall Academy pupils did not disappoint.

"The school are delighted to report the best set of results for some time, including the highest number of pupils ever achieving all A passes in their Higher exams.

"Twelve S5 pupils achieved the full set of A passes in five Highers."

They are Imogen Bardsley (Evanton) Eoghan Chisholm (Muir of Ord) Heather Christie (Muir of Ord) Eilidh Dransfield (Strathpeffer) Harry Forsyth (Dingwall) Andrew Georgeson (Strathconon) Paul Graham (Evanton) Beth Liddle (Dingwall) Matthew MacGregor (Conon Bridge) Siobhan Macleod (Dingwall) Angela Nankivell (Strathpeffer) and Angus Rollo (Mulbuie).

Pupils at all levels did well with S4 pupils achieving the highest percentage of National 5 passes since the National exams were introduced back in 2014.

Ms Cormack said: "Given the disruption and uncertainty of the last two sessions, all pupils and staff are to be applauded and congratulated for these results. The whole school community should feel incredibly proud of these youngsters and their achievements."
