S3 Gairloch students have secured a £3000 award for Highland Hospice with a creative presentation which documented why their charity of choice deserved the award.
Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is an active citizenship programme which empowers young people to make a difference in their community about causes which they care about.
Through a programme of teamwork, research and competition, a year group takes part, and one team is then chosen to secure the £3000 award.
Gairloch High School said:"We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating the work of our S3 pupils and their YPI Scotland presentations. Over the last few months five groups have pupils have chosen, researched and presented about different charities. The students have been working with volunteers and staff from the charities and becoming invested in the work that they do in the Highlands.
"Our winning group were Elsie, Harris and Joshua who's creative presentation has resulted in them being able to hand over an incredible £3000 to the Highland Hospice. Other charities represented today included the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RSABI) and Centred Scot.
"A huge thank you to our judges, S3 groups and Mrs Leonard who's been working with the year group over the last few months."
