Wester Ross national park notion focus of public drop-ins at Kyle, Lochcarron, Gairloch and Ullapool

PEOPLE living in their area are being asked what they think about the prospect of a new national park in Wester Ross.

The invitation has been issued by the Wester Ross Biosphere.

The community-led charity manages the UNESCO designation locally. Its team of trustees, staff, members, supporters and volunteers aim to bring communities together to ensure the wellbeing of the natural and cultural landscape. Its aim is to create a thriving Wester Ross for everyone.

It wants to explore what it could mean for Wester Ross and Lochalsh to be a new national park and is flagging public drop in sessions hosted by Lateral North.

One is scheduled today (Thursday) at Kyle Community Hall, Kyle of Lochalsh, from 2pm - 7pm,

Others scheduled are:

  • The Howard Doris Centre, Lochcarron, Friday, January 19, 2pm - 7pm
  • Gairloch Community Hall, Gairloch, Saturday, January 20, 1pm - 6pm
  • Ullapool Village Hall, Ullapool, Sunday, January 21, 11am - 4pm.

The group said: "Due to the ongoing weather conditions, we will assess conditions for travel prior to the events in Kyle of Lochalsh and Lochcarron and keep you updated here on our Facebook page – so please do check before setting off."
