Shieldaig man drove under influence of cocaine, sheriff court is told

A 33-year-old Wester Ross man drove his car while 24 times the limit of a cocaine derivative in his system.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that Johnathan MacGregor of the Shack, Shieldaig, was stopped by police in Telford Gardens, Inverness at 2am on May 30, 2020 because his boot was open.

Officers thought he was drunk but an alcohol test proved negative.

Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood was told that a blood sample was taken for drugs and the reading was 1200mcgs of Benzoylecgonine.

The limit to drive is 50mcgs.

MacGregor admitted driving under the influence of drugs.

Sentence was deferred until August 5 for a background report.
