PUPILS at a Wester Ross primary school had a low-key Christmas tree lights switch-on this year because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

But Gairloch’s youngsters are looking back fondly on their 2019 appeal to businesses for support which resulted in the tradition of their community tree, now enjoyed by all.

Organisations and individuals who have contributed time, money or resources are thanked by name on brightly painted wooden discs hung from the school fence.

The tree greeted the pupils as they arrived at school and is now a festive welcome to the village for residents and visitors alike.
