Three-hour Bealach na Bà road closure flagged ahead of big Wester Ross cycle event

A ROAD closure that paves the way for a Wester Ross cycle event on a notoriously challenging route has been flagged up.

The temporary closure affecting the C1087 Bealach na Bà road comes into effect at 10.30am on Saturday, September 9 and remains in effect until 1.30pm the same day.

The Highland Council approved order was made to facilitate the holding of the Bealach Na Bà cycle event. Its effect is to close to vehicular traffic – with the exception of vehicles used by event organisers – the whole length of the C1087 Bealach na Bà Road from its junction with the A896 Shieldaig-Kishorn-Lochcarron Road westwards to its junction with the C1091 Applecross-Shieldaig (Coast) Road.

It's a distance of around 16.5km.

Pedestrian access and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Alternative routes:

An alternative route is available via the A896 Shieldaig-Kishorn-Lochcarron Road and the C1091 Applecross-Shieldaig (Coast) Road.
