A WESTER Ross group which masterminded the installation of two head-turning welcome sculpture to a busy port village is now hoping to cash in on supermarket shoppers' generosity.

The Tesco blue disc scheme allows shoppers to choose which community cause it would like to support by depositing discs handed out at the checkout for the group of its choice.

Welcome Ullapool, which last weekend oversaw the long-awaited unveiling of two specially commissioned scultures, is amongst the local causes now up for a share of a pot of community funding dished out by the supermarket.

It posted: "As we recover from the excitement of last weekend's sculpture unveiling, we are pleased to have been selected as a recipient of the Tesco blue disc scheme.

"Please ensure that you support us by collecting discs when shopping in Tesco Ullapool and choose our campaign, which runs to the end of September, entitled Beautiful Ullapool.

"All proceeds will allow us to continue with planting up our containers all around the village throughout the year."
