A WESTER Ross community has come together to plan a coordinated bid to respond to and recover from the Covid-19 crisis.

A meeting of local community councils, The Loch Ewe Community Church Volunteers, the Wester Loch Ewe Trust and Visit Wester Ross and the Gairloch and Loch Ewe Action forum was held to form a panel of groups and representatives to ensure a "coordinated and consensual" recovery plan for the area.

The Covid-19 Respond, Rebuild, Recover (CRRR) panel says its top priority is to do as much as possible to support the community in becoming "visitor-ready" as the area opens up with coronavirus restrictions easing.

It is printing a poster with key requests to visitors on public health and safety and preparing a leaflet for every household and business in the area.

It is also looking into possibilities for ensuring that visitors wear masks, where appropriate, and that they know where to go to get more information and sanitiser refills.

The group is looking to develop a fully detailed and coordinated respond, rebuild and recover plan "based on a rapid, incisive community-wide consultation process".

In a posting on social media, chairperson Sheena Crawford said: "This will give us the best chance for the community to work together for a safer and more secure future and the well-being of everyone. All the organisations on the panel have committed to working together to ensure an effective use of resources and to be fully accountable to everyone in our community. Key to being able to do this is good communication. We will make sure that as many people as possible know what the CRRR panel is working on, and that they can feel part of the decision-making process."

She added: "We aim to come up with proposals and plans which reflect the different needs and concerns in the community; plans to which we can all fully commit and which we can all put into action."
