A Wester Ross Community Garden has won yet another national award.

The Sitooterie Wildlife Observation Garden in Pier Road, Gairloch, has been awarded a "Certificate of Distinction" to accompany its "Outstanding" award earlier this month from Keep Scotland Beautiful under their "It's Your Neighbourhood" scheme.

The Certificate of Distinction is only awarded to groups that have consistently grown and improved over the years of taking part, have participated in It's Your Neighbourhood for at least four years, and achieved "Outstanding" this year.

Sitooterie coordinator, David Carruthers, said that this was an absolute credit to all the garden's dedicated team members and supporters.

He added: "We have never intended to seek award status, nor ever applied for any award. We quite simply wanted to create a Pier Road sitting-out area, and we are constantly astonished by its success. This is now the Sitooterie's eighth national award from Keep Scotland Beautiful and The Royal Horticultural Society."

David made a Sitooterie presentation earlier this month to Keep Scotland Beautiful's National Seminar.
