Water supplies to communities in Ardross have been restored after engineers worked through the night to resolve issues on the local network.

The Easter Ross community was hit by the outage at 7.35am on Wednesday morning after a "fault in the pumps of a local water tank".

Scottish Water engineers worked to resolve the issue but although this was fixed by yesterday morning, engineers discovered a secondary issue in the form of trapped air in the water network.

This caused "some customers near Stittenham to still experience a loss of supply".

In an update at 7.10am on Thursday, a Scottish Water spokesperson said: "Our teams worked into the early hours of this morning to tanker water into the network to clear the trapped air and restore supplies for customers.

"Bottled water was also delivered door-to-door overnight for customers whilst our teams continued to work on restoring supplies.

They added: "If you experience brown water, we advise to allow your cold-water kitchen tap to run at a reduced pressure until this runs clear.

"Do not run any other taps or use any water appliances whilst doing so and follow the same process with any other taps affected once the water is clear from your cold-water kitchen tap.

"If you experience white cloudy water, this is air trapped in the supply and will clear within 24 to 48 hours."
